綺麗な本のページを折り曲げるのにはちょっとした勇気がいる。しかし長方形の付箋がたくさん顔を出した本もそれはそれで見栄えがよいものではない。折り曲げる行為を貼るという行為に置き換え、しっかり目印になりつつも目立ちすぎないことを考えデザインした。
We hesitate to fold down a leaf of a new or beautiful book. However, it also does not look good in the case of putting a lot of tags. Then I designed this with replacing folding with labeling as a clear mark but less obtrusive.
行為の融合
本や雑誌などでページの角を折り曲げることを通称「ドッグイヤー」と言う。しかし、中にはページを折り曲げたくない本、きれいに保管したい本も。これまでは渋々カドを折り曲げるとか、一般的な付箋をつけることで目印にしてきた。しかし、付箋をつまんでページを開いたり、何度となくそのページをめくるうちに破れたり、擦れたりしていつのまにかはがれ落ちていたりする。そこで、付箋の「形状」とドッグイヤーという「行為」に着目し、三角形の付箋をつくることで解決できるのではと考えた。
「折り曲げる」行為と「付箋を貼る」行為をひとつに融合し、しっかり目印になりながら、本の状態をきれいに保てるよう三角形の付箋を作った。ドッグイヤーという行為は、私たちをインターネットからだけではなく、改めて本からさまざまな情報を得ようという楽しい気持ちにさせるのではないだろうか。
It is said “dog-ear” to fold down a corner of a page of a book or magazine. But there sometimes are books that I don’t want to do so or want to keep in a good condition. I have been dog-earing with reluctance or making marks by putting normal post-its. However, it can lead to undesirable situations before I know it, for instance, a page is torn or some tags are missed in the course of turning pages many times. Then I focused on the “form” of tags and the “action” to dog-ear, and thought that it may be cleared by making triangle post-its.
