福岡のアルミ鋳造メーカー・株式会社エフキャストの自社ブランド「FOUNTAIN/FOUNDRY」のためにデザインした、お香立てとキャンドルホルダーが表裏一体となったプロダクトである。

溶かしたアルミを砂の型に流し込む「砂型鋳造」は、均一な量産を可能にする工業技術でありながら、鋳込む勢いやその日の気候によってわずかな個体差が生まれる、どこか工芸的な奥行きを秘めた製法でもある。『POND』ではその特性を活かし、外周の側面は滑らかに磨き上げる一方で、内側のくぼみにはあえてざらりとした鋳肌（砂肌）を残した。さらに独自の調合によるバレル研磨を施すことで、ほのかに黒みを帯びた落ち着きのある佇まいへと仕上げている。

Designed for FOUNTAIN/FOUNDRY, the in-house brand of Fukuoka-based aluminum casting manufacturer F-CAST Co., Ltd., this reversible product unites an incense holder and a candle holder into a single form.

Sand casting—a process of pouring molten aluminum into sand molds—is an industrial technique capable of uniform production, yet it also holds an artisanal depth, yielding subtle variations depending on the pouring momentum and the climate of the day. Embracing this character, POND features a smoothly polished outer rim contrasted with the inner basin, which intentionally retains the raw, granular texture of the sand mold. Finished through a proprietary barrel-polishing process, the aluminum takes on a subtly darkened, tranquil presence.

ひと手間がもたらす豊かさ

ただキャンドルに火を灯すだけ、あるいはお香を焚くだけの器ではない。『POND（池）』という名が示す通り、それぞれの面の中心にキャンドルやお香を据え、その周囲のくぼみに「水を張る」という小さなひと手間を加えることで、この器は静かに表情を変える。
本来、熱を伝えやすいアルミで火を扱うことに対して抱く不安を、水を張ることで打ち消し、熱を和らげ、火に対する安心感をもたらす。くぼみに張られた水は、揺れる炎を映し出して灯りにしっとりとした潤いを与え、裏返してお香を焚けば、香りの中に瑞々しさを漂わせながら、燃え尽きた灰を静かに受け止める。
水を満たすという、ほんのわずかな所作。そのひと手間が、心に深い安らぎをもたらし、灯りと香りの時間を次のフェーズへと導いていく。

The richness of a small gesture

This is not merely a vessel for lighting a candle or burning incense. True to its name, POND, placing a candle or incense at the center of either side and taking the small extra step of filling the surrounding basin with water causes the vessel to quietly change its expression.
Filling the basin with water dispels any hesitation one might feel about using heat-conductive aluminum with fire, softening the heat and bringing a quiet sense of security around the flame. The pooled water reflects the flickering flame, lending a gentle moisture to the light; flipped over for burning incense, it infuses the scent with a fresh clarity while quietly catching the falling ash.
The simple act of pouring water—this small gesture brings a deep sense of peace, guiding the experience of light and scent into its next phase.
